Junk removal in Sunset Park

Multi-family houses up the hill, warehouses down by the water. Two very different kinds of job in one neighborhood, and we do both.

Sunset Park runs from the industrial waterfront up a genuinely steep hill to the park at the top, and the work changes depending which end you are on. Down by the water it is Industry City, Bush Terminal, and the old manufacturing buildings. Up the hill it is dense blocks of multi-family row houses off Fifth and Eighth Avenue.

The residential side is mostly two, three, and four family houses, often with several generations or several tenants in one building. Those turn over unit by unit rather than all at once, and they come with basements, cellars, and back yards that fill up quickly.

The commercial side is a different animal. Warehouse and studio space, small manufacturing, wholesale operations, and offices, most of it with loading access built in. We clear both, and we are a short run down Third or Fourth Avenue from our base in South Slope either way.

One call covers both ends

The waterfront warehouses and the houses up the hill need very different approaches. We're set up for both, so you're not calling a residential crew for a commercial job or the other way round.

On the ground

What working in Sunset Park actually involves.

  • Multi-family walk-ups and shared stairwells

Most residential buildings here run three or four floors with one shared stairwell serving several units. That means narrow landings and neighbors using the same stairs while we work. We keep the route clear, move in stages rather than blocking the whole staircase, and we do not leave anything sitting in the hall.

  • The hill, and where the truck goes

Sunset Park is genuinely steep between Third Avenue and the top, which matters for a loaded hand truck. We stage on the flatter cross street where we can rather than fighting the grade, and around Industry City we work with the loading docks instead of the curb.

  • What we clear most here

Unit turnover furniture and appliances from the multi-family houses, basement and cellar clear-outs, yard and shed clearing from the properties with back space, plus commercial work down by the water: office and studio clear-outs, racking, pallets, and end-of-lease strip-outs.
