Junk removal in Red Hook

Cut off from the subway, wide open for a truck. Red Hook is awkward to reach and easy to work in, which suits us fine.

Red Hook sits out past the Gowanus Expressway with no subway of its own, which is exactly why some haulers quietly avoid it. We do not. We are coming by truck regardless, and once you are in, Red Hook is one of the easier neighborhoods in Brooklyn to actually work in.

The streets are wide, a lot of them still cobblestone, and the buildings are low. Old waterfront warehouses along Van Brunt and Beard, converted industrial space, artist and maker studios, low-rise houses, and the Red Hook Houses. Very little of it involves a fourth-floor walk-up.

That mix means we do a lot of commercial and industrial work here alongside the residential. Warehouse and studio clear-outs, pallets and crating, scrap metal, and construction debris from the ongoing conversions, plus the usual furniture, appliances, and full-home cleanouts.

No subway is our problem, not yours

Plenty of crews treat Red Hook as out of the way. We're arriving by truck either way, and the wide streets and ground-level access make it one of the smoother neighborhoods we work.

On the ground

What working in Red Hook actually involves.

  • Wide streets, low buildings, real access

Van Brunt, Beard, and the cross streets take a truck comfortably, and most buildings run one to three floors with ground-level or roll-up access. Heavy and oversized loads that would be a two-hour carry elsewhere come straight out the door here.

  • Flood-zone basements and ground floors

A lot of Red Hook sits low, and buildings that took water in Sandy still show it. We clear waterlogged basements and ground floors regularly, including the ruined furniture, soaked storage, and damaged drywall that comes with them. Tell us what got wet and we will come prepared for it.

  • What we clear most here

Warehouse and studio clear-outs at end of lease, pallets, crating, and scrap metal, construction and demolition debris from the conversions, flood-damaged basement contents, and the standard household furniture, appliances, and cleanouts.
